The Museum of Florida History, opened in 1977, showcases artifacts and exhibits pertaining to past and present cultures in Florida. The role that Floridians have played in national and global events is also explored. The Museum of Florida History operates five Tallahassee venues: the Main Gallery, the Old Capitol, the Union Bank, Mission San Luis de Apalachee and the Knott House. General admission is free.

Built in 1841, Union Bank is Florida's oldest surviving bank building. The building was opened as a museum in 1984 and now houses a collection of artifacts and documents reflecting black history and culture. Union Bank is one of five sites managed by the Museum of Florida History.

Located on the Florida A&M University campus, this museum features artifacts, photographs, manuscripts, oral history tapes, art works and rare maps that pertain to the history and culture of Africans and African Americans. The museum is housed in the oldest building on campus, the 1907 Carnegie Library.

Riley Museum Center of African American History and Culture
The Riley House was the second Florida house to be owned by an African American. Exhibits are displayed within the house detailing the life of the middle-class community that lived in the area and other aspects of African American History.
